Here's all our old news, archived for reading.

Wow! check out the hoops on that

It has to be said that Taff can make my BDB hoops
into something beautiful - another great job Taff - Cheers

A meeting of the top brass to review

Busy busy busy!

Too Busy in fact to keep the Barn up to date -
But here's a taster of things to come:

Jam at the Top of the Barn:

"So - Steve, with your left foot - 'chick' and your right 'Boom'- Gottit?"

"And then just keep that going"

"Boom, chick - boom chick"

Oh ! - Taff's fitted his long awaited BDB hoops to his vintage snare

So Here we are choosing the outer layer for Mark's Tesselated snare
- oops there goes the surprise!

FineTuning of These monster bass drum hoops - Denmark bound
- Guess who? - involves running them around the block for a test
of strength!

And of course - The main event (Top secret! shhhhhh)
The Drum collaboration presents the world premier of their first project:

More of all that later ..............gotta get on with it!

Aha! - So I kinda forgot about this - the great suspended debate -
If there are any engineers out there please tell me why this works
when it has no right to?

Anyway - the new BDB jazz kit will feature complete suspended
tension - Kit spec: 10x6, 12x8, 14x14, 20x15 + Jazz snare

Playing his BDB shell snare in the Danish Jazz Calender - taken at last year`s Riverboat Jazz Festival in Silkeborg, Denmark.

DB Hoops on a stave snare

That's a Camco -
and for all you guys who thought DW was cool -
in the 1970`s Drum Workshop bought all the Camco works, lock, stock and barrell
- loadsa cool stuff coming - Click on the pic or use the new menu link.

Barn Bash

So we had a little bash in the barn to keep warm - can never find a bass player at short notice!
Anyway we had a hoot, thanks to Tom,Rich,Jack and James for bearing with this old grey git.

Christmas pressie
Bit of a bargain on ebay - honestly! So I bought myself a present - This little gem is in perfect condition - just needs a snare and a polish.

It's a "Boosey & Co Ltd" - number 14167 - If anyone can offer any more info - please let me know.

Something more modern - well slightly............

More news from bonnie Scotland - Lenny has sent some
cool pictures of his new kit. We've set up a drummers page because
there is more to come!

Meanwhile drool over this little lot - Yup he made it !
It's not DW - HONEST!

Lenny also introduced me to www.stdrums.de -
That's Gerd Stegner who has every little thing you've previously
ordered from The US - Top site and fast response.

This is fast becoming my international page! -

Blimey just when I thought -That's it for the week!
Check out Taff's latest setup - that's a BDB tom shell and hoops
alongside a BDB shell snare - I only wish I'd made that Bass drum!

Great pictures, as alway from Taff
who also finds time to learn HTML
and rebuild his new look website -
www.tafflloyd.com

It's not quite finished-
but give him your support.

Cheers - Bob

so Here's BIX the cat ........oh yeah and Taff in a live recording session with "New Orleans Gumbo" in Denmark.

But that's not all - Check out Andy Morris on his Drummers page,
and
his brand spanking new website -some great pictures of drums in production
http://www.gtccustomdrums.com/

Check out Andy's band -
The Good time Charlies
are gigging constantly!

The workshop has a new piece of kit - Ok it's another pillar drill!
We just can't refuse them a good home.

But this one is different - It's 3 phase Wow the Barn gets Heavy!
Salvaged from another drum company - we've had an "invertor" fitted by Coulters Electrical - Letchworth,Herts.
Thanks to Ray for sorting this out and saving another great piece of hardware from the skip.

Rod's gone to Finland, he tells me he's visiting friends but my
suspicion is he's checking out Finnish Plywood!
Rod is taking the build of his new snare drum very seriously -
each part is being marked out by Rod himself before we can drill -
and as for the wrap...!

Soaking up the Sunshine this fine November morning
Rod's "Deep" Piccolo has just been sanded flat and is
ready for the Bearing edges to be cut.
I love the lighting on this Pic -"Kind of Blue" ?

Under that "softer" inner layer is another 5 plies of Birch
4 of which are Tesselated.

BDB 1st Bass Drum -
destined for the far east ....... Ipswich!
Where
JJ will make it more presentable

That's a 20 x 18 inch - 18 ply Birch monster it weighs a ton
and I need it out of my workshop before it eats any more 10" TOMS!

Winter has arrived - So here's a lovely warm place to dream about.....
New Orleans
-
Taff's
been out there (again!)
during October He's taken some fantastic pictures that really set the scene -
but not without some fun and games with immigration......

gigging and recording, you can catch more detail on
his drummers page
and ..........

This great picture from The Horniman museum in Forest Hill, London
A 1937 Carlton kit - I just love the colour.

I hope the
Horniman will forgive the use of the picture - Also I should
mention the photographer is Heini Schneebeli

Anyway - check out the likeness to Paul's fantastic project below

Birch and Maple. At the Barn we use Birch - but here's my current favourite website -
a celebration of Maple and some American classics.
